is committed to bringing high quality music to the general public.
To this end we have put together a number of programmes and workshops
aimed at making music more accessible to people who would not normally
have the opportunity.
We also link our Sinfonia Ariella concerts to workshops within schools working in collaroration with the national curriculum.
Education workshops
We
always try to make our workshops fun. We are careful to cater to the
needs of the audience and make sure our programmes are equally
appropriate to players and non-players alike. All projects are
tailor-made to the specific school, consortium or venue with whom the
ensemble is working, so it is not possible to outline exactly the
format of any particular project.
One of our most popular workshops for schools is entitled “Five Hundred
Years of Popular Music”. It takes the audience on a history tour
through popular music. This is, of course, adapted depending on the
age range of the children.
In our workshops we use activities and games to show participants how
to learn to memorise and repeat rhythms, words and melodies, and work
together in a group. These sessions are normally linked to a concert
given by the ensemble, but can work equally well as a free-standing
event.
We can also arrange a lecture recital, breaking down and examining a
composition of your choice culminating in a performance of the work. We
can arrange a package to suit your individual needs/curriculum
requirements or music society programme so please don’t hesitate to
contact us to discuss your requirements.
Outreach Concerts
This
is an infinitely flexible medium! We give a short concert of up to 60
minutes in which a variety of works are presented and introduced. The
format is varied according to the target audience, but this is relevant
to special needs students, old peoples' homes, hospitals and youth
centres.
Our aim is to develop and deliver projects within local
communities, making sure there is a relevance to the people within that
community.
